Cut-End vs Loop-End: which one fits your crew
The single biggest choice in a commercial mop head is construction, and the right answer comes down to one question: does your crew launder mop heads, or replace them? Cut-end heads have loose yarn ends — they cost less per head and are meant to be used and replaced, with no laundry step. Loop-end heads are sewn into looped tailbands so the yarn can't unravel, which lets them be machine-laundered and put back into service. Garflo stocks cut-end cotton and rayon today; loop-end is not stocked yet.
- Cut-end: lower cost per headThe economical choice when heads are replaced rather than washed — you pay less up front on every head.
- Cut-end: no laundry stepNothing to wash, dry or sort. For crews without on-site laundry, that removes labor, water and detergent from the real cost of mopping.
- Cut-end: toss after the jobDiscarding the head after a messy job — a restroom, a spill, a jobsite — avoids carrying soil from one area into the next.
- Loop-end: reusableSewn tailbands resist unraveling in the wash, so loop-end heads can be laundered and reused — a lower cost-per-use if you already run laundry.
Cotton vs rayon vs blend mop yarn
The yarn (the fabric) decides how a mop performs. Garflo stocks the two workhorse commercial fabrics — cotton and rayon — so you can match the head to the job instead of settling. Here is how they compare, and where a cotton/synthetic blend fits in.
Cotton — maximum absorbency per dollar
Cotton holds the most liquid for the money, which makes it the go-to for general wet mopping and picking up floor stripper. It lints slightly and dries slower than rayon, but for soaking up and moving a lot of solution, the value is hard to beat.
Rayon — fast-drying, low-lint, streak-friendly
Rayon releases liquid evenly and dries quickly, sheds very little lint, and resists mildew. That even release is exactly what you want when applying floor finish or spreading disinfectant — it's the pro's finish-coat mop.
Blend — cotton absorbency + synthetic durability
A cotton/synthetic blend keeps much of cotton's absorbency while adding durability and reducing shrinkage, which is why many crews like it for high-frequency mopping. Garflo does not stock blend yet — today we carry cotton and rayon. If blend is what your operation runs on, email us and we'll tell you where it stands.
Sizes, headbands & color-coding
Wet mop heads are sized by yarn weight and fitted by their headband. The common commercial specs buyers expect:
- Sizes: Garflo stocks 16 oz, 20 oz, and 24 oz — lighter heads for detail work and daily touch-ups, heavier heads for large open floors.
- The headband width on our heads is not listed on the product pages yet — email us before ordering if your handles need a specific band.
- Narrow band (1"): fits stirrup and quick-release / clamp-style handles — the fastest to change out.
- Wide band (5"): fits jaw-style handles for a wider, more aggressive sweep.
- Color-coding: colored yarn or bands let crews separate areas (for example restroom vs. food-prep) to help prevent cross-contamination.

What is the difference between loop-end and cut-end mop heads?
Cut-end mop heads have loose yarn ends. They cost less per head and are meant to be used and replaced rather than washed — which suits crews without on-site laundry, and jobs where you would rather discard the head than carry soil into the next area. Loop-end heads are sewn into looped tailbands so the yarn does not unravel, which lets them be machine-laundered and reused — a lower cost-per-use if you already run laundry. Garflo stocks cut-end cotton and rayon today; loop-end is not stocked yet.
Cotton vs rayon vs blend — which mop yarn should I buy?
Cotton absorbs the most liquid per dollar and is the workhorse for general mopping and stripper pickup. Rayon releases liquid evenly, dries fast, and is low-lint and mildew-resistant — the pro choice for applying floor finish and disinfectants. Garflo stocks cotton and rayon in 16, 20 and 24 oz. A cotton/synthetic blend adds durability and less shrinkage, but Garflo does not stock blend yet.
Do you sell replacement mop heads in bulk with no minimum?
Yes. Order a single case or a full pallet at the same per-unit price — no minimum, no account, and no waiting for a quote. Live UPS and FedEx shipping rates are shown at checkout.
