What is a Tampico fiber brush?
Tampico is a natural fiber harvested from the agave lechuguilla plant in northern Mexico. It has been used in commercial heavy-duty cleaning brushes for generations.
Unlike synthetic bristles, Tampico fiber is naturally stiff yet non-scratching, holds up to hot water and most cleaning chemicals, and absorbs significantly more water and solution than nylon or polyester. That combination is exactly what roofing crews and industrial cleaners need for scrubbing without melting, deforming, or scratching the surface underneath.
Why Tampico beats synthetic for roofing & industrial cleaning
- Heat & chemical resistantWon't melt or deform like nylon under hot water, most acids, or roof-cleaning chemicals.
- Absorbs more water than syntheticHolds cleaning solution longer, so crews cover more surface per dip.
- Stiff but non-scratchingAggressive enough for moss and grime, gentle enough for tile, coated metal and masonry.
- Natural & biodegradableA renewable plant fiber — no microplastic shedding.
Common uses
- Roofing — the 7 in Tampico roof brush head is what crews use to spread roof coatings, sealants, roofing cement, and tar on flat and low-slope roofs
- Wet scrubbing — the 10 in Tampico deck brush head for decks, patios, kitchen floors, boat decks, and other hard surfaces
- Sweeping — the Black Tampico push broom head (3 in trim, hardwood block) for semi-smooth floors in warehouses, plants, docks, garages, and shops
- Acid-wash and etch cleanup — Tampico fiber is naturally acid-resistant, so the 10 in deck brush head holds up on block and concrete where synthetics soften
- Concrete cleanup and surface prep
- General facility and sanitation scrubbing

What is Tampico fiber made of?
Tampico is a natural fiber from the agave lechuguilla plant. It's naturally stiff yet non-scratching, resists heat and many chemicals, and absorbs far more water than synthetic bristles — ideal for roofing and heavy industrial cleaning.
Can I use a Tampico brush for masonry or acid work?
Tampico fiber is naturally acid-resistant, which is why it is a traditional choice around etch and acid work. Garflo’s Tampico line today is push broom heads, a 10 in deck brush head and a 7 in roof brush head — we do not stock a dedicated masonry or acid brush. The deck brush is what handles acid-wash and etch cleanup on block and concrete. All brush heads are sold by the case of 12, handles not included. Always follow the acid or chemical manufacturer’s safety instructions and use proper protective equipment.
Do you offer wholesale or distributor pricing?
Yes. Garflo Supply offers wholesale and distributor pricing on Tampico brushes with no large minimum order. Start an order or contact us to set up distributor pricing.
